Hey everyone,

Time for the weekly roundup of DLC charts! Why yes, you are correct, this isn't the Rock Band forums, but while they're working on getting that back online there's no reason we can't get the roundup started in the meantime. This week we have yet another trio of three-packs from some pretty popular bands; Blink-182, KISS, and perennial favorites Weezer. There's also a single from female-fronted rockers Damone.

As usual if the charts you're looking for aren't up yet, be sure to check back, as I'll be adding them throughout the day as they go up on YouTube. Also as a side note, although I usually post my bass charts in HD format, that's not possible this week as my HD recorder got fried by a lightning storm on Sunday night. It will be back soon, though. It also seems the usual guitar chart poster, Nalopean, is missing in action today; hopefully he will either show up, or more solo players without breakneck speed will step up and upload some charts!

FC Roundup: 07.20.09

Today was quite a productive day in Rock Band 2. I got 4 new solo Vox FC's, and 8 new dual Vox + Bass FC's with S1ckH4nds.

Solo Vox FC:

FC# 108: "Creepin' Up the Backstairs" by The Fratellis [Video]
This is by far my favorite song from The Fratellis pack, and one of my favorite songs in the game. I highly recommend The Fratellis pack if you haven't picked it up already. The video was made by request after Dual FC'ing "Creeping Up the Backstairs" with S1ckH4nds. This was my first, and only solo FC of the song. It's a devil horned tier 6 song so it was no easy feat!

FC #109: "Highway Star" by Deep Purple [Video]
This is one of my favorite songs from Rock Band 1 so I'm happy to have it on RB2. The video was my first for Team Cena and the first time I've ever FC'd the song. I FC'd it on my second run. It surprised me because I remember this song being much, much harder. I guess this means I've improved a lot over the last few months. At this time my "Highway Star" score is ranked 19th on ScoreHero. Not so bad huh?

FC #110: "Spiderwebs" by No Doubt
Ah No Doubt, how I love and hate you. You are the soundtrack of my youth, but the burden of my headaches in Rock Band. Gwen's voice is not difficult, but her range and chart can change drastically at any given point. Spiderwebs remains fairly consistent but I would constantly hit a "Strong" in various places. After half a dozen tries to FC for my 100th, I gave up. After FC'ing "Creepin' Up the Backstairs" and "Highway Star" I felt that today was the to FC it. After 5 tries, and 4 breaks (I know, slacker) I finally FC'd it. I'm currently half way through with FC'ing all the No Doubt songs. Take that Gwen! :D

FC #111: "Almost Easy" by Avenged Sevenfold
"Almost Easy" is a Tier 5 song from the Rock Band 2 disc. In my Platinum Endless Setlist 2 I got a 95% on the song. The song wasn't in my queue but it was calling my name. I fired it up, and within my first run I FC'd it! My score is terrible because my first activation was on 2 instead of 2/sk1, and I completely missed my second activation on 2. I was forced to go on 4 so that hurt my score. I'll go back to it at some point and re-FC the song with a better score. Now that I have handle on it, it's very easy.

S1ck 'n' Saiko Dual FC:

S'n'S B+V FC #70 "Ex-Girlfriend" by No Doubt
"Ex-Girlfriend" is a good example of Gwen's unusual vocal range. Half of this song is charted with talkies, and the spoken parts vary in range and speed. Despite this I've become comfortable with the song. The first time S1ckH4nds and I FC'd this song we had a terrible score. We're SnS we cannot allow that! After pathing, and re-pathing we were finally able to squeeze out 476,259 points. Unfortunately we were unable to Gold Star the song, so we'll have to tackle this another day.

S'n'S B+V FC #71 "Breaking the Girl" by Red Hot Chili Peppers
Nothing difficult for vox, but bass has a few rough spots. In the end we were able to beat the top score by 83,467 points on ScoreHero.

S'n'S B+V FC #72 "Call Me" by Blondie
S1ckH4nds enjoys Blondie, but I'm personally not a fan. He steered away from the FC queue and challenged me. I had never FC'd this song solo so I had to learn it. After a few shaky runs we were able to call this one FC #72. Now I have to toss this in my solo Vox FC queue.

S'n'S B+V #73 "Creepin' Up the Backstairs" by The Fratellis [Video]
As I said before, this is far my favorite song from The Fratellis pack. S1ckH4nds and I cannot recommend The Fratellis pack enough. This song is quite difficult for both of us so it took some time and patience. After our first dual FC, S1ckH4nds recorded the video that is linked above. We managed to squeeze out 148 points more points from our first FC run! This is currently the highest recorded bass+vox score on ScoreHero on any platform and in any Rock Band game. :D

S'n'S B+V FC #74 "Don't Speak" by No Doubt
Do you see a trend yet? I'm currently working on the No Doubt pack so you'll see even more FC's from them. "Don't Speak" is very easy for both bass and vox. Pathing became difficult since the bass has many dead spots. Our first couple of runs put us at 2nd place globally so we repathed. After several tries we both got tired of the song and stuck with our new 1st place score of 607,244.

S'n'S B+V FC #75 "Push It" by Static-X
After several slow songs S1ckH4nds asked "Can we play something short and fun?" I replied with "How about Push It?" S1ckH4nds was surprisingly happy with my selection. I love Static-X but this song is not fun as I expected it to be. We FC'd it in our first run and kept the score of 394,397.

S'n'S B+V FC #76 "Monsoon" by Tokio Hotel
Monsoon has been a guilty pleasure of mine for several years. I've listened to this song in German and English far too many times then I'd like to admit. When I suggested it to S1ckH4nds, I was surprised to see that he was also a fan. In our first run we dual FC'd the song, but played it several times to re-path with the bass chords. We replayed it for over 30 mins before we got sick of it and settled on 627,842.

S'n'S B+V FC #77 "Go With the Flow" by Queens of the Stone Age
Revisited Rock Band 1 for the second time with "Go With the Flow." ScoreHero's vox path was incorrect so we had to make a few revisions of our own.

O hai thar blog. It's been a long time since I've seen you. Much has happened since my last post several months ago. I continue to assist Smeeguel in hosting Rock Band Nights at The Village Pourhouse (VPH) in NYC along with Joel. I've met many Harmonix employees, made some amazing friends, and met my wonderful boyfriend S1ckH4nds at VPH.

Rock Band Tournament in Atlantic City. Several bands within the VPH competed against each other and some of the nation's best players. In the end Smeeguel, Joel, Luca, and Chris Daou of The Gurnkillers won the $10,000 grand prize. I'm sure most of us don't want to Atlantic City for a long time.

In May I applied for the PMS Clan. Pandora's Mighty Soldiers (PMS Clan) is the world's largest multi-platform online female gaming group on Xbox, PC and PlayStation platforms. Within a few months I became a full member, and now I am currently the Community Manager for the Guitar Hero/Rock Band Division. If I couldn't be any more busy with Rock Band, think again. As of July 18, 2009 I am now a sponsored member of Cena's Corner Team Cena Pro Division as a multi-instrumentalist. Needless to say, I have my hands full! It's quite surreal.

I promise to update this blog on a daily basis with any thoughts, rants, or FC's that occur in Rock Band 2. As of this time I have 111 Solo Vox FC's, 15 Bass FC's, 1 Drum FC, and 1 Guitar FC. In addition to solo FC's I have 77 Dual Vox + Bass FC's with S1ckH4nds.

Be sure to also check out my friend, and PMS Clan recruit Deadlystingnyc on her daily RB2 Vox FC Odyssey. Will Deadlystingnyc be able to keep up with one FC a day for a year? I certainly hope so!

Harmonix Bands On Tour!

Rock the World, Find Love, Get Married!

Last month we were lucky enough to witness the first Rock Band Wedding Proposal during our Almost Famous Tuesday. Ryan (MephistoJak) and Laura (Sophrosyne) met while playing Rock Band online, and then got engaged after he sang a heartwarming rendition of “You Got It” on stage. Yours truly was there to photograph the event. Since then Ryan and Laura have received super star attention from their many fans as well as from Harmonix themselves!

This week’s Rock Band ‘Zine features their story: START A BAND, ROCK THE WORLD, GET MARRIED! The true love story of Ryan and Laura written by Brett Milano of Harmonix. Milano speaks to Ryan and Laura about their history, their future, and their wedding plans (which of course will inlude Rock Band). Be sure to check out the clip of the phone interview (with shameless RockGamer plugs) on the Rock Band ‘Zine.

King Diamond joins Guitar Hero Metallica

King Diamond, frontman of the influential Danish heavy metal band “Mercyful Fate” will appear as a playable character in Guitar Hero: Metallica. His trademark microphone handle made of a femur bone and a tibia bone will accompany him on stage. Fans will also have the opportunity to play (and falsetto) with King Diamond during performances of “Evil.” The song was re-recorded exclusively for Guitar Hero Metallica by four of the five original band members. Time will tell if Melissa’s skeleton will be an unlockable microphone. I’ll personally keep my fingers crossed.

Having united forces with rock ‘n’ roll legends Metallica for encore performances and recordings throughout the years, GRAMMY® Award-nominated heavy metal vocalist and Mercyful Fate frontman King Diamond will take to the cyber-stage with Metallica this spring in Guitar Hero® Metallica®.
Fans, stagehands and groupies alike will have the opportunity to shred and drum with or wail as the digital King Diamond during performances of “Evil.” The song, which originally was recorded in 1983 and is one of the Mercyful Fate songs that comprise Metallica’s “Mercyful Fate” medley, was re-recorded by four of the five original band members for Guitar Hero Metallica. The recording session was overseen by guitarist Hank Shermann in the band’s native Denmark; after which King Diamond laid down his vocals in Dallas, Texas, and mixed the song with J.T. Longoria.
“It’s been absolutely amazing to be a part of this Guitar Hero experience. It was quite a trip to re-record the song ‘Evil’ almost 25 years after the original recording took place. The end result with four out of the five original musicians turned out so much better than I would ever have hoped for,” said King Diamond. “Seeing my animated character take form was totally eerie in a very good way. It’s so strange to see yourself animated in such perfect detail - cross bone microphone, Eye necklace and all. This game looks and sounds METAL all the way. HORNS UP!!!”

Rock Band Unplugged PSP Details Emerge

Earlier this week RockGamer reported the PSP exclusive, Rock Band Unplugged. So what exactly is Rock Band Unplugged? Many details have surfaced about this new portable game and we have them all for you, courtesy of Primotech.

Last year Gamespot featured the PSP Rock Band game as an April Fool’s joke. The joke is now long gone, with Harmonix having the last laugh. Rock Band Unplugged is in development with Backbone Entertainment (Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix, 1942: Joint Strike.)

Gameplay will be similar to previous Rock Band titles. There will not be a peripheral attachment such as Activision’s Guitar Hero: On Tour for the Nintendo DS. Controls will be similar to the PSP title DJ Max Portable (4 Button mode.) Notes are assigned to the ‘Left,’ ‘Up,’ ‘Triangle,’ and ‘Circle’ buttons. Players can switch between guitar, drums, bass, and “vocals” which use the L and R shoulder buttons.

Like Amplitude and its predecessor FreQuency, Rock Band Unplugged tracks will be broken down into “phrases.” Play a phrase perfectly to earn a multiplier boost and a prompt to switch to a different instrument. The player can choose to switch instruments at anytime, but switching prematurely will cause him to lose his multiplier. Just like in Rock Band, Overdrive will multiple your points and avoid failing a track.

As reported by Primotech, the game will include music from Blink 182, Boston, AFI, Kansas, Lit, and The Police. DLC will be made available through the PlayStation Network and can be accessed through the game’s built-in music store. Unfortunately Rock Band Unplugged will not feature Ad-hoc or Online support like the PS2 title Amplitude. No PSP multiplayer? Blasphemy!

Rock Band: Double Bass Pedal

There is no doubt that Rock Band has been huge success in game, hardware and DLC sales. Several fans in the Rock Band community have requested EA to construct a double bass pedal. Double Bass Pedals are especially affective where speed is needed on the bass drum (i.e. Metal, Rock.) Being a fan of Rock Band, and Metal I thought to give this one a try.

It's exceptionally simple to "construct" a double bass pedal for Rock Band. All you need is a headphone Y-adapter from Radio Shack, and an extra drum pedal. A drum pedal can be obtained by borrowing a friend's pedal, or by purchasing a new drum set (not recommended.) To construct the double bass pedal simply connect the headphone Y-adapter into the drum kit and bass pedals. Double check your connections and make sure everything clicks into place.

Double bass pedals should help in bass heavy songs (i.e. Metallica, NIN, Iron Maiden, etc.) If I were a dummer in real life I'm sure I would have had better results. This double bass pedal setup requires you to alternate both feet quickly. The Rock Band pedal is designed to work in singles. This means open and closed circuits with no in-between middle contact. If one pedal is pressed down, Rock Band will not register the second pedal. In order for this to be effective one foot would have to be completely lifted off the pedal before the other is pressed. This requires speed, and precision, none of which I have.

Based on my drumming "style" (and lack of practice) this was far too dificult. I also felt the need to press harder on the pedal then usual. Perhaps this was caused by my frustration in effectiveness. Until Harmonix/EA releases a double bass pedal, this is your best option. Though I was disappointed with my results, I've seen excellent results from others using this method. For now I will continue to practice my single bass pedal technique.

Alexis got a deck of Adult Swim cards. Then I beat her in a game of Spit.

I got the last number in the White Elephant. In the end I decided to open the unwanted "Brokeback Mountain" gift Hector brought. If it weren't for people saying Brokeback Mountain I don't think I would have had the Pirates of the Caribbean DVD. Then again, I could have stolen it from another TPN member since I was last. I know it would have made Crissy happy.

I bought cookies from the bakery. They were yummy. :)

My gift was Sega Genesis Collection for PS2. I wrapped it in my custom Space Invaders wrapping paper. Alexis happily won it. I saved her some Wii points with the collection. hahaha

After the meetup we tried to go to No idea, but it was crowded. After running out of options the eight of us decided to part. We were in the park at Union Square 14th st. They had this really cool holiday light display. If you step into it the square, the holiday shapes would respond to your body movement. In box the shapes would repel, in other they attract to you. It was fun running around the box and chasing the lights. There was another box that made a ring of red around your body. It was so cool!

Crissy, Ant, and I went to Starbucks, had some yummy drinks and then hit the L train at 14th.

Ok now for the official TPN Wrap up. Phantasy Star Universe came in and the intro music is driving me mad in the background. I'm going to try it for a few minutes. Enjoy the wrap up!

Sometimes are good to know (like the Sensor Bar doesn't like Christmas trees and the Wii-mote can interfere with pacemakers as previously posted), and other things seem out of left field. I mean, do people really need to be told not to pour orange soda on their Wii console?

Birthday Penguins, Wii, & TPN

We kidnapped Anthony and took him to TPN. Crissy wanted a DS Lite and the New Super Mario Bros. so we stopped by EBGames. There we met up with Quan and Jennifer. As usual the group was there with their PSP's. This was Crissy's first official TPN meetup. One guy came all the way from Philly for the meetup. He's a cool dude. Everyone loved Crissy's Penguin. It's a large cuddly penguin, perfect for hugging. It's quite humorous to see metal heads dress it with bracelets and Naruto bands, and then hug it. Buddha (as my sister calls him) was the star of the night. Instantly, he became the official TPN mascot. Luckily we were able to pry off fingers and take him home.

When it was time to say goodbye, I left with Dre to his car. He had the Wii in it's Nintendo World bag. A had already prepared for this and brought a Hot Topic bag for concealment. It fit perfectly over the Nintendo World bag. We said our goodbyes to Dre and Alexis, stopped by Starbucks for some Iced Green Tea, (Strawberry Frap for Cris) and then went home. We were home by 10:30 pm and I was asleep shortly after midnight. I made sure I turned the sound off my cell so that I could sleep.

I made up for the sleep I lost so I am quite happy. Unfortunately I cannot open the Wii until X-Mas Eve... My mother insisted to buy it for us this Chirstmas. Oh well, guess I will playing at my friends house until then. Today I am purchasing another controller for my Wii. I'll make a Mii on it for when I visit my friends. Mom still wants a Christmas list from me and my family. For those who are interested here is my Christmas Wishlist. (I'm looking at you CJ. lol) I can't believe it's filled with Nintendo.

So the PS3 fleecing begins. "Used" (with "used" meaning "never opened") PLAYSTATION 3s are appearing around Tokyo and Osaka. The original launch prices ballparked between 58,900 yen and 70,000 yen for the high end machine, while the cheaper version went for between 49,000 yen and 55,000 yen. Reader Ryan reports that he saw 60gig versions going for 110,000 yen (US $938), and the 20gig going for twice its retail price. While Kotakuite Drew passes along this photo he snapped on November 12th (a day after launch). He points out:

In the picture above, the used 60GB version is marked at 144,900 yen ($1,237), and the 20GB one is at 94,290 yen ($805). High store prices are popping up on Japanese blogs like Akiba Blog. On Saturday I took my PSP to work and played music through the speakers. Everything was groovy. Going home on the subway I used my PSP to read manga. (Yes I read on my PSP.) Later that night, I tried to play some music through the speakers. All of a sudden, strange noises were emitting from the speakers. I changed it to another song but it was the same thing. So I came to the conclusion that I blew out one of the speakers. To test this theory I plugged in some headphones and played music. Once again I hear the strange noises, specifically from the Right Ear.

This is what I don't understand- the PSP's speakers should work independently from the headphone jack. If this is true then music should sound fine with the headphones on. Unfortunately this is not the case. I am not sure if I should have the speakers replaced and/or the jack. I found a site which offers replacement speakers but I cannot find a "How-to guide." I'm not really good with this kind of stuff so I need an opinion. I can get it repaired in Chinatown, but it will probably be cheaper to just buy a new system.

Other news related to PSP, I was looking around Play-Asia.com for weekly deals. I came across Magna Carta Portable for $15. I almost purchased it, but I realized it's the same as the PS2 US version but with a gallery and extra costume. Fuck that. Instead I bought Dragon Quest & Final Fantasy in Itadaki Street Portable (fucking long title) for $20. Kick ass deal! The game is out on PS2 in Japan but I'm sure it will never make it here. Geez I'm such a Final Fantasy freak...

Tonight I came home after a long day at work, and found a package from Alloy Inc. It wasn't a money order from the refund they owed me. Instead they "Spread the Joy" to my mailbox.

Some time ago I went to the Loco Roco MySpace page and signed up for their Spread the Joy Kit. Each week, LocoRoco is giving away a bunch of Spread the Joy kits filled with LocoRoco goodness. I didn't think I would get anything, but it was worth a try.

Well here it is:

Muahaha! I got a Loco Roco hat and PSP chord! Coincidentally I wanted a new hat. Hurray for the little orange blob!

I couldn't help but smile. It made my day.

Final thoughts on Wii vs. PS3 Launch

My cousin posed this question on MySpace:

"So what's the general consensus? I think the Wii is going to top out the ps3 simply b.c ps3 isn't going to install enough console's in the home by '07. Also most parents are going to walk into a gamestop and see a 250 dollar console, it's a no brainer, they're gonna pick up a Wii. What do you guys think??"

Here is my response on the matter:

Wii all the way.

The Wii will have 4 million units before '07.
The PS3 will have 400,000 units at launch.

Now, even if we factor the differences in pricing (get 2 Wii's for one PS3) the Wii will still have a better turnout. If Sony were able to produce more units then things would be different.

This is a huge category- content. Yes, PS3 will be the cheapest Blu-Ray player on the market. Honestly though, who really cares? People will care about the PS3's power but who really cares about their launch games? With the exception of Resistance I can play them all on my 360. Graphically, the Wii is unimpressive but they their games look promising. I will get a Wii right after New Year's and a PS3 when FFXIII/MGS4 comes out.

P.S. Assassin's Creed is coming out for XBOX 360 so now there is no rush for me to get a PS3. lol

After work I went over to Santos house. It was the first time that I have met Erika. I have spoken to her on MySpace and on the phone but I have never seen her. She's very cool, and pretty good in Guitar Hero. The three of us played the Guitar Hero 2 *cough* demos. I am happy to say that I beat Nirvana's "Heart Shaped Box" and Alice in Chains "Them Bones" on Hard Mode. YAY! Santos and I tried Co-Op for Guns' N Roses "Sweet Child O' Mine on Hard but we couldn't get past 78%. We tried, but failed. Butthole Surfers "Who Was in My Room Last Night" co-op on hard was awesome. Foo Fighters "Monkey Wrench" hurts.

P.S. Justin Wong wants his guitar back. lol

My custom XBOX 360 Faceplate Skin came in from DecalGirl.com. I designed the faceplate and they printed it onto a high quality vinyl. Really great quality and application was a breeze. No bubbles, no creases, and it fits perfectly. I even designed it to have me and my sister's gamertag on the front.

Now that I have a new sexy XBOX 360 and the Lumines Advanced Pack all I want to do is play. hahaha

P.S. I purposely did not cover the Power button. I noticed that Memory Card 2 was upside so I corrected it.. however I couldn't get a good photo of it.. ::Shrugs::

Lumines Live is finally out!! I spent the better part of the day on that game.. My poor eyes are hurting, but I loved it.

Lumines Live is just as great as its PSP counterpart. I cannot comment on the music because my PC BROKE in the middle of playing! (In case you don't know my 360 is connected through my PC and monitor speakers.) Soo... I spent HOURS playing Lumines w/o an music. I'm so gimp... *EDIT* I moved my 360 to the living room (like normal people) the music is cool. My favorite song is the Piano one, pretty song, pretty colors.

I've unlocked 7 achievements so far from Challenge, and Time Challenge. I also unlocked some skins (songs) in the game. I played some people in XBL and beat them in less then a minute.. I felt bad for them... I decided to try Skin Edit Mode, Endless because it's one of the few things I can play w/o the extra skins.. After 4 hours, 14 mintues I had to kill myself at level 461. I was hungry and tired so I quit. lol I wanted a million points and I got it.. There was no other reason to continue. I will never go through that again. This is how it broke down..

I don't know why the last image says my time was 14:21 when I played for over 4 hours and 14 minutes... So what did I get in the end? 20 achievement points.. what bullshit..

Now all is great though. So far it's 1200 MS Points + 600 MS Points = $22.50. For the price we have to shell out, I would have prefered an actual 360 disc. At least they can charge the $50 or whatever and have ALL the content on one disc. I also don't understand why all the downloads were not available on Day 1. On the second day the Advance Pack was released but who knows when the VS Pack will be out. So not only are they over charging, we have to wait indefinitely. It's also an inconvience to those who are interested in purchasing the packs. The packs are (kinda) forced on you, but you don't have to purchase them of course...

The analog stick controls suck, but the D-Pad is not too bad. However it makes me realize how bad the controllers were constructed. So long as I play with the D-Pad I'm fine.

Why do I play? Besides the fact that I enjoy Lumines, I also like the fact that I can play against my sister at anytime, in my living room. It may sound lame, but we've always wanted to play VS and she never got a PSP. Now we both can enjoy the game.

Despite it's microtransactions, and other issues it's a great game. I love it.

As for the unlockable bonus tracks, RedOctane tells us that it wants to keep those songs a secret until release as to not spoil everything for the fans. Sounds good to us, though we're certainly interested to know simply what caliber of tracks will be included. Too tired to write.. Instead I give you pictures from my cell phone. Kony, Quan, Jennifer and I met at 9:30 on Thursday for some breakfast. Then we went to the Javitz for the Microsoft and Sony keynotes. Kony has took some video from both keynotes. I was busy for the 9 hours I was there. Sonic's 15 year birthday was celebrated. Got to play many cool games such as the PS3, Guitar Hero II, FFXII, Lumines Live, Eragon, NHL2K7, Phantasy Star Universe, and Mortal Kombat 3 for XBL. Lumines Live and Guitar Hero II were great. I played them both several times throughout the show. We even ran into a missing TPN member..

...guess who had a strong crowd at the show.. Jeff a.k.a HispanicGuy (Left) from TPN came in second at the DDR Tournament.

*UPDATE* The TPN forums have been discussing Digital Life based on its content, and shwag. I believe people were expecting it to be at the same level as E3 and TGS.

"I didn't go to last year's Digital Life so I can only speak of this year. Digital Life is not an E3 and no where near it. If you want to compare it, perhaps you can compare it to TGS which is open to the public. Then again Digital Life is not as large or as important as TGS. Games are not the main focus of Digital Life just like the Consumer Electronics Show was back in the day (before E3.) Personally I think they should just make a seperate public convention dedicated to gaming."

Anthony came over today. We watched Hayao Miyazaki's [Studio Ghibli] Nausicaä of the Valley of Wind. Patrick Steward and Uma Thurman do voices on it. It was pretty cool. I liked it better then Princess Mononoke. (Mononoke sucks imo.) Then we played video games for the rest of the night.

Gary bought me Dead Rising on Wed. I played for a bit on Wed. night and I saved it. It said that I am at lvl 2. I'm suppose to kill a guy named Carlito... but I died. Now when I start the game it says my level, but it makes me start over. I don't get it. Ant and I couldn't figure it out. It's a cool game I just don't know how to start from where I left off. Cool part was getting an achievement for falling over 5 meters high. lol

I've always loved legos from when I was little. I have to admit that I still purchase legos every now and then. I just cannot help it. I'd also admit that I am a Star Wars geek. Posters, figures, games, TV guides, movies from Beta to DVD, even Lego Technic Star Wars... Yup I have them... Anyway, my sis and I got Lego Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy. Yes the one and only trilogy you should really watch.. (but Natalie Portman is so yummy. ><;)

The game follows the original storyline from episodes IV-VI with a Lego twist. There will be times where you will have to build a bridge with Legos so that your party can cross an area. C-3PO can't do anything but open doors. It's especially important to go out of your way for him because he can't even jump. Levels are very large and filled with lots of goodies to break. I am a bit fanatic, picking up as many bits as possible. (Must buy Ben Kenobi's Ghost!) These bits are your currency and can be used to buy extra characters and extra stuff. I've already purchased an Ewok, Boba Fett, and unlocked many others. Some extra stuff include a disguise (which adds a mustache to everyone) or C-3PO on Chewy's back.

My sister thinks it's incredibly cute. I think it's genious. Pretty, hilarious, and fun. The only set back is the awkward camera angles. Sometimes I walk into a small room with bits but I cannot see the bits. It's ok though, it doesn't bother me too much. I just run around in circles until I am done collecting. I'm about 10 % done in this game. It takes awhile to go through each stage. Try it out. Download the CPU demo here.

After much shenanigans, Ubisoft has finally confirmed what we all knew: Assassin's Creed is coming to the Xbox 360. Gamespot did a short Q&A with the game's producer, Jade Raymond, but apparently forgot to ask if the PS3 and 360 versions would be hitting at the same time, or if the PS3 was getting the game as a timed exclusive.

No one has said that would happen, but since Ubi has been so hinky about saying that it was coming to the 360, you'd think there was some sort of deal cut with Sony. Brian Crecente

I finally beat Tomb Raider Legends for XBOX 360. It was very cool. I beat the last boss on my first try. That's not a good thing, but it helps when you're playing at 5 am.

Oblivion Elder Scrolls IV Collector's Edition came in Thursday. Got it for $16. The game has an almost perfect rating/review but alot of people said it's boring. I hope they're wrong. We'll soon find out.

I was recently asked to make my Cammy Gamer Card public so that others can use them. With a few tweaks I created a public version for all to enjoy... so long as you can tolerate my "Kuniochi Design" watermark. I've also had requests multiple requests. Now that I have an Xbox 360 coming on Friday all I can think about is Xbox Live. I cannot wait to add all of my friends, get Gamerpoints, and play DOA4. In preparation of this event I have created custom Gamer Cards from scratch. The first one was a pain in the ass to line up but I eventually got the hang of it. You can see the progression as it all practice paid off in the end.

I received a message from K0NY and Quan this morning. The XBOX 360 is at K0NY's house now. I am pretty excited about it. Im looking forward to DOA4, Kameo, and especially Geometry Wars. lol Now I have to get a XBOX 360 wireless network adapter. Hopefully they don't work like crap. I also have to figure out how to connect another S-Video on this monitor. Perhaps there is a switch that will allow multiple connections through 1 S-Video port. Santos suggested a go VGA instead.. I have to look into it... Just gotta get the money straight.

On another gaming note, Darkstalkers for PSP arrived today. It was sealed, brand-new and I only spent $15! WOOT!

I should be up and running on XBL by Friday... hopefully.

Last Thursday TPN took over the NYC Subway. It was a wonderful meetup. I had a golden shower of Mc D's fries and almost broke my PSP. My PSP fell out of my hands and hit the center pole. I almost cried because it didn't turn on. Someone suggested I checked the battery and it worked! The PSP survived the accident because I had a PSP strap. Remember, PSP straps saves lives. lol I'm such a klutz.

This is the PSP wrap up from The PSP Nation. Written by Hector (Purist.) I was tired last night and couldn't read it. He spent 3 hrs writing this so I made the article into a JPG so I can read on the PSP.

AMNY wrote a negative blurb about the event. What a bunch of snobs. "There was an air of annoyance beginning to fill the train, but the group appeared oblivious to it all," Martinez wrote. That doesn't sound like Hector. WTF... Stupid paper.

Kotaku made a nice article about the event. I would have loved to see some DS gamers during the ride. lol

Console Wars:
There seems to be many misconceptions running around. Most of my friends are blogging away, speaking their minds about the next-gen. Though I welcome opinions, many of it is irrational and leads to fights. There is absolutely no need for all this negativity. As gamers we should embrace eveything with open eyes and ears. This is the beginning of a new era for gaming. I am looking forward to see where the future will take us.

The Games:
I plan on getting all of the next-gen systems within the next year. I'm sure that there will be plenty of fun titles within the three systems. Xbox 360 will be going into their second year so I expect to see many top titles. I cannot wait to try DDR, F.E.A.R. and Lumines Live on 360. Halo 3 and GTA4 was announced for you fans. Nintendo has confirmed to release Zelda and Smash Bros. at Wii's launch. Super Mario Galaxy looks exciting. It's been awhile since I have cared for a 3D Mario. Sony has been quiet with their launch, but games such as MGS4 and FF13 look promising. 8 Days look crazy. I am convinced that video was taken from a movie. Untill I see someone play it, I won't believe it's gameplay. I hope it is gameplay, but I won't hold my breath.

Nintedo Wii:
-The System:
Alright enough with the Wii jokes they're old.

Where is this phantom system? When will they show it? I'm not sure what is keeping Nintendo but they had better show something soon.

-The Controller:
This is Nintendo's Revolution. In their conference they showed the controller in action. Some people wonder if it's feasible to have multiplayer with this controller. If people can play DDR with eye toy in a small apartment then I don't see why people couldn't play Wii.

Some people say that the Wii controller shell looks like a PS2. To me, it's nowhere near a PS2 Dual Shock. It's more like a SNES controller with nipples. If anything we can say that Sony stole analog, but we won't go there.

Wii controller redesigned. A speaker is now built-in to the controller to use in tandem with the rumble feature during gameplay. Several of the button placements and design were changed as well. Here is the final controller:

-The price: TBA.. one day... It will however be less then the Xbox 360.

-The System:
PS3 Final Specs
The core ($500) system will have no memorystick/SD/compact flash port, no Wi Fi, and no HDMI output. The premium ($600) will contain the above, a 60 GIG HDD and an alternate design.

-The Controller:
Six degrees of tilt fucntionality. Interestingly enough the Wii's controller is able to incorporate rumble features. Not sure why Sony couldn't do the same. It's no big deal to me actually... I personally don't see a need to have tilt function on the PS3. It means absolutely nothing to have that feature. I wonder if they will acutally use it... The person demonstrating the controller seemed to have some difficulty. I am happy that they stuck with the PS2 controller design though. Oh and by the way, the tilt was not stolen from Nintendo They actually stole it from Microsoft (and Logitech). They took the idea from motion sensoring controllers that Logitech and Microsoft manufactured for the PC in 1999. Yes, 1999 as in more then seven years ago. There was even an Xbox style button in the middle of the pad.

-The Price:
Core system $500
Premium system $600
Before you scream I'd just like to say that PS3 is not the most expensive console to launch. To me this price is not surprising.
NeoGeo launched in 1990 for $699.99 (That's equal to $1041.12 in 2005)
NeoGeo games were over $100 each.
3DO Interactive Multiplayer launched in 1993 for $699.95 (Equal to $920.30 in 2005)

To put it in an even better light, think about this. You can spend $400 on an iPod that only plays music or a Blackberry for $300. The PS3 at $600 will be a bargin. The biggest selling points of the PS3 are the blu-ray capabilities. The PS3 will be the cheapest Blu-Ray player on the market costing $300 less then stand alone units. It's almost like getting a video console for free! If that doesn't justify it's price then nothing will...

Start saving up. Good luck getting one. Bring a knife, it'll make you run faster.

Sony PSP:
While everyone's still reeling from the PS3 price announcement, UK gamers who want some shiny new Sony hardware before the PS3 launches are in luck. Sony has announced that the Ceramic White PSP will finally be released in Europe next Monday (May 15), with an expected retail price of 179.99 Pounds in the UK ($249). Can we please have that in the US as well?

There will also be a greatest hits series coming to PSP.

Final Fantasy XIII was coming and coming to the PlayStation 3. Twice on the PlayStation 3. Oh, and once for "next-generation" mobile phones.

Showing a trailer that consisted of amazing real-time and pre-rendered footage, which wowed the crowd, the S-E execs then went on to show off the two other Final Fantasy XIII games, Final Fantasy Agito XIII and Final Fantasy Versus XIII. The former is for phones, the latter for PS3.

FFVXIII is an "extreme action" title, shown only in pre-rendered video form with just concept artwork shown for FFAXIII. No dates were provided for either title.

I know I didn't write much about 360. It is very late, so I will update this again soon.. There's still much more ahead so expect more posts!

I just came home from Nintendo World. Nintendo World Store was showing their E3 press conference live, as part of the store's first year anniversary. Camped by myself for 3 hours just to watch it. Goddamn it's cold today. ><.

The music changes as he moves his arms. Those of you who have spoken to me about the Rev controller know that I wanted a conductor game for it. I suppose someone in Nintendo overheard me. lol

I know you guys are gonna hate me, but this is the system I am most looking forward to. Graphics are always the first thing that people look for. I knew from the beginning the graphics won't be as good as the other two systems. It's been proven that people accept Nintendo's lower graphics for better gameplay. The DS is a perfect example of this.

The games on Wii look fun as hell. The killer app will obviously be Zelda Twilight Princess. That game alone will make me buy a Wii first day. I'm sure I'll get a PS3, but I won't get one at launch. I still wonder when they will show the system. You'd figure by now they would have a working model on display. I am pleased to see that they will incorporate online capabilities. The idea of sending "gifts" to people sounds cool to me. lol

Yesterday Sony had their press conference. I have to say that I am not excited about any of their announcements. The price is nothing new to me. We knew that it would be at least $500. The (core) Sony PS3 will be $500 and the (premium) will be $600. The "core" will have a 20GB HDD, does not have a HDMI port, only the Sony HDD 60GB has an HDMI port. Besides HDMI the 20GB PS3 also misses Wi-Fi (another bummer) and the Sony Memory Stick port.

So the only choice you have is to buy the more expensive Sony PS3 with 60GB. To make sure your friends know you have the $599 priced Sony PS3, Sony has made the case design a bit different by adding a chrome colored edge. The Sony PS3 will launch in black. Sony is planning to have 2 million Sony PS3 consoles available at launch. Either way chances of getting this thing will be very slim.

MGS4 was probably the most shocking thing to me. Raiden looks cool and I am excited to see him in the game. An "old snake" takes a gun to his mouth.. Hmm... Just like Kojima to leave us all confused.

Microsoft has it easy. They're already ahead so they can chill a bit. Their conference was pretty fun. They mentioned games like Halo 3 and GTA4 which I can care less about. Though I have to admit, it looks pretty.

Surprise addition to Xbox Live Arcade: Lumines Live. "Today I'm proud to announce a partnership with Warner Music Group to integrate [music] content into Lumines Live. " In other words, you'll be able to play music videos in the background as you play Lumines Live. The demo showed a Madonna vid playing in the background.

That is just flippin' awesome! I would love to play this multiplayer on console.

Squarenix always have the most boring conferences. >< It's always random Japanese men talking in japanese about how great their new FF game is. It just gets tedious. One thing that doesn't get tiring are Squenix's trailers and announcements.

FFIII will be released on DS. Though I have played the game a billion times I just might buy a DS Lite for it.

FFXIII- Features a futuristic world with a female protagonist who kicks some serious ass with a short sword-gun combo, similar in appearance to Squall's Gunblade from Final Fantasy VIII. Unlike Squall she uses it like a gun AND a sword. It's about time. The idea of a main female protagonist AND a futuristic world makes me all giddy. I think I found myself a new girlfriend... Though it will be hard to replace my Rikku.
FF13 seems like a lucky number at this point.

I love Katamari and I love Super Monkey Ball. I enjoy quirky things, because I can relate to it. lol I cannot believe how great Loco Roco is on the PSP! (You can download the JP demo here.)
Runs right off the Memory Card!

The level design with tilt integeration is amazing. It's almost like playing those tilt maze games but with a liquid ball. The object of the game is to build up the largest roco possible and guide him to the end of the level. But roco can't move on his own. To make him go, you tilt the background left or right, which causes roco to roll and build up speed. Pressing L tilts the playing field to the left. Pressing R tilts it to the right. You can also make your roco jump by pressing L+R. Besides hopping over things, sometimes you'll encounter a tunnel or a tight rope that you need to guide your roco across. Just rolling right into these things isn't a good idea, because the roco is normally to big and will get stuck or fall right off. In these situations, you can push the O button to break the roco into smaller roco's, which you can then roll to the other side... and re-form later. The little guys are so cute. At one point they roll down, go through a "Sonic the Hedgehog" loop got caught in the wind, and flew away. I was instantly in love. There are a alot of "easter eggs" within the game. I almost felt nostalgic, exploring through "fake" walls in 2D. I really wish I can have more moments like that in gaming.

I am addicted to the music already. The little blob sings along with the music as well. Quirky detail, but it made the blob appear more human. Loco Roco is now my PC wallpaper. It's painfully cute and bright but I don't care. (Yes, I love orange.) I cannot wait to get the final. I'm going to buy it for myself on my birthday. :)

FFXI New Expansion...

FFXI: Treasures of Aht Urhgan is finally here! It was released last Tuesday for PC, PS2, and XBOX 360. ::gasps:: My sis and I hunted and bought it on Friday. The same night we went out with our linkshell (clan) to get the 3 new jobs.

Here I am Kuni, as my main job (Thief)

First thing to do was go to Bastok and start the Puppetmaster quest. (PUP)

Then we ventured from Mhaura to Al Zahbi by boat. Soo many people were there! More people occupied the new areas then the main city (Jeuno.) This is understandable, as new areas allow for exploration.

The other leaders set up the run so that all 3 new jobs were done at the same time. I'm not sure what was for what, but it was done. Here are some shots.

The new areas are very well thought out. The new jobs and areas are great for bringing back some magic into the game. I have to admit that the game is "fun" again. I was able to level Corsair (COR) to lvl 8 today. It's a pretty fun job. Similiar to a bard/pirate. I think this job is going to be alot of fun. PUP looks promising as well, but I will try it another time. Everyone seems to have named their puppet "Serenade".. Mine is Kagekiyo which translate to "clever shadow." I think mine is better.. but anyway right now I want to focus on COR. You may not see my irl, as I will be lvling my ass off.

New PSP Accessories

Today I did alot of shopping Chinatown. I wanted to blow my money on Kingdom Hearts 2, Me & My Katamari, or the Naruto PSP game. Instead, I chose to hold out til next time. I made a stop to Elizabeth Center. One of the shops made me a personalized cell phone strap and wrist strap for my PSP. It says "Izzy" and has a little bell on the end. Ironic that Izzy should follow a real bell. Amazingly my PSP USB & Charger cable came in. I ordered it on Friday, expecting to receive it in 7-10 days from Hong Kong. Surprisingly it came in today. It's so beautiful.

How one can dream... If it were my choice to port games to PSP I'd have a field day! "PSP already has enough ports!" Yeah, yeah whatever, don't tell that to Nintendo. They can release Super Mario World on every system and people will still buy it. I admit, I am a sucker for it too. We cannot help it, especially if there's a game that makes us nostalgic, and happy.

Why break what is fun? Sometimes, I think people forget that the most memorable games were usually the most fun. Here are some Photoshopped images done by moi. Not shown: Parrapa the Rappa, Star Fox, Super Mario Bros. 3, and Super Mario World.

I've have wanted DDR on PSP for awhile... Tetris Attack is one is still like crack to me...
